As to studies there have been many done, and all the independent studies came back with the same results, far less toxic than cigarettes. Is it safer to not smoke at all ? Probably , but its not made for non-smokers its for smokers who want an alternative. Which brings me back to point A, WTF do you non-smokers care? Only motivation I can see is that your a controlling asshole who’s only pleasure in life comes from trying to deny other people what they enjoy so fuck you :) ecigs are here to stay

There have been no long-term study done to determine the long-term health effects of diet coke. Really. There is zero clinical evidence that diet coke doesn’t kill you after years of use. The same is true of regular coke. So many chemicals, yet no clinical trials, none.

Clinical trials don’t make sense when all the ingredients in a product are well-understood. Clinical trials are for new drugs, new methods of treatment, and so on, not for consumer products made from tried and tested stuff.

As for your PG paranoia, you still haven’t grasped what I tried to explain to you about concentrations. A fraction of a drop diffused into several litres of air is not a 90% concentration. 90%+ concentrations do however exist in IV drugs using PG as a solvent, and they are still safe. With an injection like that, you’d get more PG into your blood than you could ever possibly get from using an e-cigarette.

Of course, a study of effects from inhalation of PG is entirely relevant.

drdirs @ 10:54 am #

Hence those monkeys the study mentions. 18 months is a long-term experiment. And these monkeys were breathing PG oversaturated air non-stop. Not in the abrupt way you’d use an e-cig, but non-stop. And the PG was not 90%, but 100%. 18 months! And what happened? Nothing. That’s a far more relevant study.

Also, PG was tested on humans for use as a airborne disinfectant, and the net effect was a health benefit.

drdirs @ 11:24 am #

PG has about 15% of the acute toxicity of kitchen salt. Are you, appropriately, seven times more scared of salt?

I encourage you to look up how much propylene glycol is in your average tube of toothpaste. You may never brush your teeth again!

And if you really want something to rant about, go research dihydrogen monoxide. It sounds right up your alley.

Every plane that takes off, pollutes more than a million smokers do in a lifetime. What are you going to do about that? The truck standing next to you at the traffic light gives you and your occupants more carcinogens than 500 people smoking in a club?…..er… Now That is something to crow about or what?
Take it and run with it!
You’ll have all our support!

Your wrong on so many levels I don’t know where to start.

1st, I’m not sure where you get your information but we do not puff ALL day, Personally I vape a little bit more than i used to smoke (10 cigs a day). 2nd, there have been studies, google is ur friend, try using it before you make a fool of yourself. And last, there have been some vigorous studies done on e-cigs, Once again I recommend google.

If you wanna stick to your cyanide and arsenic thats fine, I’ll be enjoying my tasty vapor :) .

P3rplexity @ 11:03 pm #

Oh right, and another thing misterskinny1. I can puff on PG for as long as I want, the worst that will happen… let me repeat that, THE WORST THING, that can happen (not counting allergic reactions, some people are in fact allergic to PG) is that I will have a bit of respiratory tract irritation.

In fact, in vapor form, it has been said to possibly prevent pneumonia, influenza, and other respiratory diseases.

Please study up a bit before making ignorant comments.

You have spent alot of time researching this topic and have cleary missed the purpose of the product. You should be focusing your energy on actual cigarettes in all reality. Sure excessive propylen glycol inhalation could cause central nervous system effects, but drinking to much water will kill you as well. Lets get real and see this as a great first step in a “safer” way to smoke. Lets work out the bumps and give the nicotine addicted smokers a door to better their health in.

LOL!!!

Or… we could just admit it’s fraud to claim anything is safer than smoking when WE JUST DON’T KNOW YET!

We could also stop with the ridiculous claims about inhaling “water vapor and nicotine” when the truth is 90% propylene glycol and oriental tobacco concentrate. If it’s such a great product… WHY THE LIES? And who would be fool enough to put a liars product in his body?

PurpleXPlanation @ 8:52 am #

May i ask why you care so much and what are your views on all of the real tobacco products. the biggest liars are the real tobacco companys. I live in America. This country is a lie. We were told lies since elementary school. Christopher Columbus did not discover America. Indians already lived here. We are surrounded by lies and scams. sure its a great scam in your eyes but its a blessing to others. If your so interested in this why dont you create the perftect liquid and make millions.

valntinehugs @ 2:31 pm #

millions of people :)

drdirs @ 3:26 am #

“Why the lies?” Why do you consistently ignore what you’re told about PG? If you’re really so afraid of PG, get a VG based e-liquid, but you need to stop brushing your teeth and eating anything from the supermarket.

I’m curious though. Where did you actually get this idea that e-cigarettes contain concentrated tobacco, and how do you imagine the tobacco is concentrated into a liquid?

L7N7D @ 12:54 am #

that’s gangsta

asturel13 @ 9:46 am #

No dude, you’re wrong. Its nicotine thats in ecig liquid and cartridges. Pharmaceutical grade Nicotine. Do you work for a cigarette company or something? I dont get why you are so passionate about scaring ppl away from a life saving device, probably the greatest invention ever which will save millions of lives over coming decades… Just seems strange is all.

the AP got this one wrong (no surprise there). First of all, it’s not “far more expensive than traditional cigarettes”. The ONLY way to come to that conclusion is to compare the price of an e-cig *starter kit* to the price of a pack of normal cigs — and that is an unfair comparison, because one need not buy an entire starter kit every time he needs more smokes. In reality, e-cigs easily work out to be much cheaper than the real tobacco ones.

garrettw87 @ 4:54 pm #

Secondly, most people don’t know this, but nicotine isn’t the most addictive substance in tobacco. It gets all the press because it makes up 90% of all the alkaloids in tobacco, but that other 10% does make a real difference. There are a number of e-smokers that say e-cigs don’t provide the satisfying buzz that tobacco does — and that is because tobacco contains MAOIs (a form of anti-depressant) that e-cigs don’t. And we all know anti-depressants are habit-forming.

garrettw87 @ 4:56 pm #

Just do the research for yourself, and NEVER blindly believe the media. NEVER.

Forgot to mention — you can even get e-cigs that don’t contain nicotine, in case you’re only addicted to the physical hand-to-mouth motion or the social aspect of smoking. ;)

kingfg15 @ 8:42 am #

Fuck that….regardless of what the risks may be it looks like the E-cig its better than a regular cigarette being that it doesn’t damage your lungs like a normal, smoke emitting, cancer stick would……ima try this.

hasun1987 @ 2:32 pm #
